just hold on we're going home

Image 40And today we're off to Copenhagen! It's been bliss being in Bangkok with my BFF, sweet little sister, Dad and boyfriend! It has really been five weeks filled with lots of mischief and fun in Bangkok and some trips abroad to the Maldives and Vietnam too! I have experienced so many new things abroad and I can never really get enough of Bangkok. I kind of miss the days when I lived here because no matter what day of the week it is, there are always people out having dinner, cocktails or partying, which is probably my favourite part of Bangkok! But since most people have gone home now, I've definitely started to miss them so I'm happy that I'm going back home to see them! My boyfriend and I have been a couple for 2,5 years today which is quite incredible! Happy anniversary Skat!

busy bangkok day

Image 38Image 37
It has been the busiest day of the year (I've totally forgotten what it's like to study haha)! I started with getting eyelash extensions which took about two hours (I get 80 lashes on each upper lid and about 15 on each lower), so it takes some time! Then my boyfriend picked me up and we went shopping and to the Jim Thompson House, which was gorgeous but as we didn't have that much time we had to go with the French tour (which meant that I only understood about 20% of everything the guide said) and then we had to rush on to the spa! First, I used to Onsen spa, which really is a treat! Unfortunately my boyfriend and I couldn't use them together since genders are separated... However, we got a hot oil massage together afterwards as well as the herbal compress. It was the first time my boyfriend went to the spa so he was rather excited. Then we went to dinner at ISAO (I just had to have dinner at my favourite sushi place in Bangkok one more time) and then we went for a drink at Moon Bar (which was so full of annoying tourists who didn't get (nor care) about the queue system...). I had the one their bartender won some competition with, I don't remember the name of it but it's the one with the giant pineapple slice.

red nail love

Image 36
I had my nails done first thing now that I'm back in Bangkok - they really need to look good for the weekend! I really love the red colour on them and they have gotten so long now! Afterwards, my boyfriend and I met at EmQuartier to go and have lunch at Greyhound. We both ordered the usual - coke and humongous grilled ham and cheese toasts. So delicious. I really love this place because you always get a bag hanger too, which is so fresh and so Asian. Love luxury. Anyway, I got lots of fresh YSL makeup items for fall and a fabulous tight knitted dress that I've been in love with forever! I really can't wait to get back to Scandinavia so I can wear it!

l'usine ho chi minh

Image 16Image 20Image 17Image 18
Today we're heading back home to Bangkok! Ho Chi Minh has been so much fun! Usually, I don't really go sightseeing in Bangkok because I've done all of that one of the first times I went to Bangkok, so I only do it when I have friends or family visiting that wants to see something. But here, we've been touristing a lot - and looked like real tourists with straw hats and everything! Ho Chi Minh is a lot less well developed than Bangkok (naturally) but it is a lot more raw and real. It has been nice to see all the semi-dirty streets, the endless current of motorbikes and the fresh markets with all kinds of greens a vegan could imagine. So much fun! We also found this gem called L'Usine close to our hotel and it has the best passionfruit smoothie ever! It really has a colonial feeling to it that I quite like.

the deck saigon

Image 30Image 12Image 29My beloved boyfriend and I had our final Ho Chi Minh dinner at The Deck in Saigon, which is quite fancy. It's a bit like Ce La Vi (used to be Ku De Ta), which really is one of my favourite places - particularly the ones in Singapore and Bali! So cool - I love the concept of delicious fusion Asian dining in cool setting and with a casual vibe and to die for cocktails! Anyway, The Deck in Saigon had the perfect setting with a gorgeous view over the peaceful (particularly compared to the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok!) Saigon River. There were practically no boats, just big heaps of some kind og mangrove plants flowing by. It really is the perfect place for a romantic dinner - or (I believe) for partying in the weekends with the hip and rich from Ho Chi Minh.

mountain retreat ho chi minh

Image 3
We had dinner at a wonderful restaurant today. It was sort of a sky bar restaurant but the building was nowhere near as tall as the Bangkok ones... You also had to climb a flight of stairs in an apartment building and the restaurant was really well hidden. On top it was like a small oasis with rustic wooden furniture and lots of plants everywhere. We had lots of spring rolls, rice, morning glory, pomelo and shrimp salad and lots of other stuff. I'll definitely go to Mountain Retreat again when I go to Ho Chi Minh next time...

vietnam bound

Image 2
Today I'm heading to Vietnam with my boyfriend and I'm super excited because I've never been there. We're going to Ho Chi Minh and I really look forward to some touristing, genuine shopping and Vietnamese food!

isao love

IMG_9528IMG_9529
My Dad and sister are heading home today! It's actually quite sad because it means that summer is almost over. Well, not really though. So today I've mostly been packing for Ho Chi Minh tomorrow and then we fetched some sushi from ISAO.

rocket bangkok

IMG_9221IMG_9196IMG_9223IMG_9239
We've actually been to a rather large cultural park called Ancient Siam today but since I'm really lacking space on my Mac, I'm posting some pics from earlier. My BFF and little sister went to a café in Thong Lor here in Bankok, that's called "Rocket". The place is pretty cool and definitely has the Scandi vibe. The drinks there were probably the best thing about the place - delicious and pretty!

barbie nails

IMG_9742IMG_9744IMG_9748
My Barbie nails are still going strong even after the Maldives. Tonight we're having dinner with my Bangkok BFF and then we're probably heading to Octave for some rooftop cocktails and then to Sing Sing Theatre for some partying. On Sunday my sweet little sister is travelling back home and then my boyfriend and I are off to Ho Chi Minh! I've never been to Vietnam, so if you've got any recommendations, then please comment!

donna imma

IMG_3591IMG_3566IMG_3595IMG_3580IMG_3593
I'm currently back in Bangkok but of course, I have tons of Maldives pics still so I'll just sort of post them whenever I feel like it. I got back to my boyfriend last night and we originally planned on going out but skipped it due to a Thai holiday (the night club was closed) and then we just went and had pepperoni pizza and milkshakes at Dean & Delucca instead. Today we've just been working out and chilling by the pool. The swimsuit in the pics is my Italian gansta bitch swimsuit (hence Donna Imma) and you can find it at Hot Anatomy.

from the maldives to bangkok

IMG_3668IMG_3672Today we're (unfortunately) heading home - I really could've used another couple of weeks in the Maldives. But hopefully it's not  my last visit in paradise. I'm actually pretty excited about going back to Bangkok because my boyfriend is waiting for me back in our apartment and I haven't seen him in about a month. We went by boat all the way to the airport, which I found really cool. See outfit details below.

jet skis & island snorkelling

IMG_3394IMG_3404IMG_3425
We're really having a blast here in the Maldives; the weather is great and there are so many things to do! Today we hired jet skis before noon and went out to the open sea to have some fun. It was my first time and definitely not the last! My little sister, Dad and I had one each plus a guide (the path from the lagoon to the open ocean was rather tortuous). Afterwards, we had some lunch and then we went to a small desert snorkelling island located just off our own, called Gulhifushi Island. There's really only a restaurant there and lots of hammocks and a sea pool. We snorkelled a bit and strolled around the island to take some pics in the best photo spots. Beach hammocks are just super, super, super dreamy! I am wearing Tom Ford sunglasses and a Victoria's Secret bikini in the pictures.

dolphin trip

IMG_2772IMG_2773Today we went on a dolphin trip in the early evening and it really was magnificent! We saw lots of them and they were following and playing by the boat and jumping in the waves. One of the dolphins even made like three spins in a row (it was almost like they were trained!?). It's such a blessing to see wild animals play in the nature and not in captive. We hired our own private boat, so we were able to see them really well and I adore the boat life too so altogether it was just a magnificent experience.

dhigu island maldives

IMG_3332IMG_3335IMG_3310IMG_3337
Hey! Today we went snorkelling, which was lots of fun and the weather was incredible too! We went for a boat trip that lasted about 30 minutes to a reef located out in the Indian Ocean and then we jumped off the boat and snorkelled around. I saw lots of really beautifully coloured and curiously shaped fish and I even saw some squids and Manta Rays too. When we got back, we took some pics of the amazing island of Dhigu, went to chill at the poolside and now we're back in the room, prepping for some lovely dinner.

maldives jungle fever

IMG_2697IMG_2641IMG_2622IMG_2640IMG_2691Pictures from today when we went to the "honeymoon island" (no kids allowed), it's still kind of stormy but at least it's clearing up. There's not much jungle on these islands but we explored them a little anyway, we mostly found birds, lizards and hammocks. I really adore all the green leaves, they leave one with such a tropical and exotic feeling. See outfit details below.

anantara spa deck

IMG_3554IMG_3557
If you're following me on Instagram, you might have seen one of these pictures. They're from the spa deck where we went to hang out prior to our treatment. It was really nice, out in the ocean with two jacuzzis, healthy drinks and sun beds. Fortunately, I can blog backwards now so I don't have to post pictures of a rainy island and gym selfies... I'm actually in Côte d'Azur writing this and I'm a little bit late - sorry about that! If you want to stay up to date, I strongly recommend following me on Insta (emmaanemone). But I promise, I'll try to get back on track as soon as possible!

maldives evenings

IMG_3347IMG_3361IMG_3351IMG_3365IMG_3348IMG_3372
It's been rather stormy all day so unfortunately we've been in the room for quite a while. We went swimming too and we took a walk on the beach before going to the gym and later we're having teppanyaki. But here's the kind of mood there is in the evening (when it's not stormy!).
